  • Cathedral City resident Tyler Blauvelt joined the Marines after he graduated from Cathedral City High School in 2001.

    He joined to learn discipline, courage, and to get an opportunity to travel.

    He is now in Kuwait, one of thousands of Americans fighting the battle in the Middle East.

    The Desert Sun will be following his story and talk to his family and friends as they anxiously wait for his return.
