Michael Jackson accused of molestation

Multimedia
Michael Jackson timeline
Chat: Defense attorney William Sullivan, Friday 8 a.m.

What's Next

  • Thursday: Jackson turned himself in to authorities in Santa Barbara and was booked on suspicion of molestation. He was released on bond.
  • Santa Barbara County prosecutors have 45 days to decide whether to file felony criminal charges or seek an indictment from a grand jury.
  • Jackson is set to be arraigned, or called to court to answer charges, on Jan. 9
  • A criminal complaint would require a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence for a trial; an
indictment does not, therefore prosecutors would not have to reveal evidence in the case early on.
