The Palm Springs Kiwanis Club, in partnership with the national program Reading is Fundamental, makes monthly trips to Cielo Vista Elementary School child care program to read to children and give children books.

The Desert Sands Unified School District held a talent show fund raiser to benefit The United Way of the Desert at the District Education Center in La Quinta Saturday, April 3, from 3 to 6 p.m.

The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert held it fourth annual Volunteer Recognition Event at the Westin Mission Hills Wednesday, March 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. to thank the volunteers for their contribution of time and hard work. Guest speakers were Richard Kite and Huell Howser.
