Rising Star of Karaoke Contest
Boomers in Cathedral City is holding its Rising Star of Karaoke contest for kids 18 and younger every Wednesday at 6 p.m.









'Gathering of the Children of the World'
The Coachella Valley Recreation and Park District (CVRPD) hosted its 2004 Youth Olympics titled 'Gathering of the Children of the World." The event was held for 500 children attending CVRPD summer camp at 25 sites throughout the valley. Each site represented a country and children participated in Summer Olympic Sports.








Action Gymnastics
Action Gymnastics in Palm Desert offers training for gymnasts of all levels. The gym is directed by T.J. Weaver, who has been coaching gymnastics for 18 years, and is staffed with coaches with high level of expertise.








Nurses' Assistants' Graduation
California Nurses' Educational Institute Inc. in Cathedral City held its graduation for Certified Nurses Assistant Thursday, Aug. 12 with friends and family of graduates in attendance. Graduation was held upon completing 50 hours of classroom training and 100 hours of hands-on training.








Thousand Palms Library
The Thousand Palms Library held Wild West-themed stories and craft for children every Saturday Morning from June 12 to Aug. 14. The Program was part of the valley-wide Ninth Annual Summer Reading Program, titled, "Ride a Wild Tale."










Dezart Studio Open House
Dezart Studio in Palm Springs held an open house Saturday, Aug. 14. The event included music, drinks, modern and contemporary art by Kim Chasen, Marian Moiseyev and Downs.









Starlight Dance Center
Starlight Dance Center, established in 1996, is owned and operated by Patty Williams. The Center's objective is to educate others in the appreciation and study of ballet, classical jazz, tap, hip-hop, modern, theater and ballroom dance. Starlight Dance Center is staffed with five dance instructors, offering private and class instruction to children ages 3 to adult with all levels of experience










Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert's Summer Discovery Camp
Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert held summer day camp for children ages 5 to 9 in 10 weekly sessions from July 21 to Aug. 27. Each week, campers experienced a different theme with hands-on activities, projects, educational sessions, guest speakers, indoor and outdoor games, educational videos and museum exploration.









Summer Family Conference
Victory Christian Center in Rancho Mirage held its Summer Family Conference at the Rancho Las Palmas Marriott and Spa Aug. 9 through 14. The conference was designed for all ages with free daily teaching sessions for children, youth and adults.
