Concert With Bob O'Connor and Friends
The Fountains at the Carlotta in Palm Desert was host to an afternoon of music and song, Sunday, August 17th. The three entertainers played to an appreciative audience of residents and guests, filling the auditorium with a variety of tunes ranging from jazz to classical.









American Red Cross Class
Eight students came together on Saturday morning, August 16th, to spend the entire day with instructor Marty Buss, to become certified in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation; commonly known as CPR. The class included lecture, video, and practical work on mannequins, both adult and infant.








EWGA Barbeque
The Executive Women’s Golf Association held a barbeque Friday evening, at the Desert Willows Golf Course Club Intrawest August 15th, as part of their two day tournament. Winners will go on to compete in Scottsdale, Arizona in September. This is a nationwide group comprised of 110 chapters, started 12 years ago to promote networking and golf for women.









Fantasy Fun Fair:
Fantasy Springs Casino hosted Fantasy Fun fair where products and information about local businesses were displayed by business owners and employees.







Youth Football:
The Junior All American Football League of Southern California, Palm Desert/La Quinta chapter began practicing on July 28th. The chapter is comprised of five different teams ranging in age from seven to fourteen. They will play eight games on Saturdays beginning September 6th through November.








Jr. Golf Academy:
The Westin Mission Hills hosts a junior golf clinic for golfers six to sixteen years of age. The clinic runs through the summer three days a week and three hours each day. Putting, chipping, full swing and rules of the game are covered. All students receive a video tape of their golf swing to show at home.








Paws and Hearts:
Paws and Hearts is a volunteer group that makes weekly visits to hospitals, senior centers, children’s hospitals, and Alzheimer’s facilities for “therapy” visits. Paws and Hearts founders Richard and “lucky” Waxman are always looking for caring individuals and well-behaved dogs and cats to volunteer. Wood Carving at the La Quinta Senior Center:
The La Quinta Senior center offers wood carving classes every a Friday afternoon. Classes are lead by Bob Lewis of Indio, who has been teaching wood carving since he retired in 1992.







YMCA Cooking Class at the Miramonte Resort and Spa:
The Miramonte Resort and Spa in Indian Wells hosted cooking classes for the YMCA children’s camp of Indio. The Children learned to make cookies that do not have to be baked in the oven.
