Summer Zoo Camp
The Living Desert in Palm Desert held a Summer Zoo Camp for children ages 4 to 12. Camp was held weekly for six weeks beginning in June and ending in July. Campers learned about plants and animals, and had lot of fun.
Miniature Golf Tournament
The Sarah Renee Organization held a miniature golf tournament at Boomers in Cathedral City Saturday, July 24. The event was presented by Boomers and Mix 100.5. Proceeds from the event going to toys and supplies for seriously ill children in the hospital. The Sarah Renee Organization, "A Gift of Life" was formed in memory of Sarah Renee Daniel who lost her battle with a brain tumor in October 2002, at the age of 5.
American Idol Kids Karaoke
Bananaz Grill and Bar in Palm Desert held American Idol Kids Karaoke Tuesday, July 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. Karaoke was hosted by Mix 100.5's D.J. Dynamic Dave.
Guardstart Lifeguard Training
The Desert Hot Springs Boys & Girls Club held Guardstart Lifeguard training for children ages 11 to 14 to train for future lifeguard jobs. Training was held from July 22 to 24 at the Desert Hot Springs Boys & Girls Club pool.
Palm Springs Power Baseball
Palm Springs Power, new hometown baseball team, played a 14-game home stand in July at the Palm Springs stadium. The team is made up of collegiate players from Southern California schools vying against five other teams in the Pacific Southwest League. The Power played the Inland Empire Rocket Tuesday, July 20 wining by a score of 6-3.
Juggler David Cousin
The Rancho Mirage Public Library held entertainment by juggler David Cousin Wednesday, July 21, in part of the was part of the valley-wide Ninth Annual Summer Reading Program, titled "Ride a Wild Tale."
Dog Days of Summer Party
Wellington Place Assisted Living in Rancho Mirage and Paws and Hearts animal therapy held a mixer themed "Dog Days of Summer Party." Wellington Place residents and dogs had the opportunity to meet. The event was held Friday, July 23 at Wellington Place.
The Veins of Time
The Palm Canyon Theatre Children's Summer Camp presented the play "The Veins of Time" July 22 and 23. The play was written and directed by William J. Layne. The children rehearsed for the play during their five week summer camp.
