Art at Work
The Desert Post Weekly held a reception for twelve local artists participating in the Art at Work - Bodies in Motion show in the newspaper's Cathedral City office December 5. Singer Josie Cutting, the Caballeros Gay Men's Chorus and dancers from Westwind Productions entertained the crowd.










Desert Youth Ballet
The Desert Youth Ballet, instructed by Valerie Mahabir, presented Fashions, Food and Ballet at The River in Rancho Mirage December 7. Dr. Rene Dell' Acqua, Mrs. California 2001, announced the fashion show featuring clothing from April Cornell Fashions on El Paseo.












Desert Stars
Girls in the Coachella Valley Desert Stars Pom Pom and Twirling Corp practice at Cathedral City Elementary School December 4. The group of 120 girls ages 5-15 practice once a week in Cathedral City and Indio.









Gingerbread houses
Families made gingerbread houses on milk carton foundations at the Cathedral City Library December 4.








Blitz Build
Over 300 volunteers, contractors, suppliers and inspectors took less than 24 hours to build and furnish a home during Habitat for Humanity's Blitz Build for the Yanez family in Palm Desert December 7. RAM Development organized the schedule and sub-contactors, and the City of Palm Desert donated the land.












Hanukkah music
Students from the Jewish Community School of the Desert in Palm Desert sang Hanukkah songs at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs December 3.





Junior wrestling
The La Quinta USA Junior Wrestling Club practices three times a week in the La Quinta High School mini gym and competes in tournaments November - May.









Holiday Charity Ball
The Desert Hot Springs Women’s Club raised money for scholarships, local schools and charities with the Holiday Charity Ball at Miracle Springs Hotel December 6. Mike Costley and his band provided the music.
