Coachella Valley Alumnae Panhellenic Luncheon
The Coachella Valley Alumnae Panhellenic hosted a Christmas luncheon meeting on Dec. 9 at Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage. The Marine Corps was on hand to collect toys for TOYS FOR TOTS; entertainment included the Joslyn Singers from Palm Desert , directed by Eva Meyers.

Canyon Carolers at Villagefest
The Canyon Carolers from Victory Christian Church in Rancho Mirage performed at the Palm Springs Villagefest on Dec. 9. Carolers, dressed in Dickens-style attire, entertained street fair-goers with the sounds of the season.

Red Hat Tea Party
Beginning The Red Hat Society hosted a Holiday Tea Party on Dec.8 at the clubhouse of Heritage Palms Golf Club in Indio . Guests enjoyed a “Wacky Fashion Show” which featured the organization's royal colors, purple and red.

Willowbrook Holiday Performance
Willowbrook Stable in Desert Hot Springs hosted their biggest event of the year on Dec. 18. Eighteen riders, ranging in age from 5 to 16, participated in the event that included jumps, threading the needle and the wheel performance.

Paws and Hearts at Eisenhower
The Paws and Hearts Animal Assisted Therapy program includes weekly visits to hospitals, senior centers, children's hospitals and Alzheimer's facilities. “Lucky” and “Scruffy” visited patients at Eisenhower Medical Center on Dec. 8. Paws and Hearts founders, Richard and “Lucky” Waxman, are always seeking caring individuals and well-behaved cats and dogs to volunteer in the program.

Christmas Musical at Southwest Church
Southwest Community Church in Indian Wells presented its 15 th Annual Christmas Musical, titled “Unaware,” the weekend of Dec. 11 and 12. Not a typical Christmas story, “Unaware” is the story of a present-day family that is surprised when its cookie-cutter perception of life does not play out as planned.

Desert Paws Fundraiser
Desert Paws held a fundraiser on Dec. 11 at Tony's Pasta Mia in Palm Springs . Entertainment included the best of Banducci's singers and dancers, as well as Joyce Brizz, Anita Gardner, Patrick Evans and many more. Desert Paws, a non-profit foundation, raises funds for no-cost neuter/spaying, helps animals in need, and arranges animal adoptions.

The Rock Garden Café in Palm Springs was the setting for the Senior Single Travel Club's Christmas party. The Dec. 9 event included an appearance by Santa and entertainment by the Palm Springs High School Choir as well as Marge Kotch and Larry Harris.

Lake Mirage Parade of Lights
Lake Mirage Yacht Club, composed of residents of Lake Mirage in Rancho Mirage, held a Parade of Lights on Dec. 11. The club, originally founded in 1991, has 69 members and is a member of the Southern California Yachting Association. The festive holiday event was highlighted by the award of the Lake Mirage Yacht Club Jack Rodgers Memorial Trophy to the first place lighted boat.
