Youth Baseball Cathedral City
Big League Sports Park in Cathedral City is holding youth baseball for children 11 to 12 throughout the month of February. The games are held in round robin and single elimination format.

Cactus Classic golf
The Couples Golfing Club at Sun City Palm Desert held a three-day invitational golf tournament at Sun City Palm Desert Thursday, January 29 through Saturday, January 31. The event is sponsored by the Agua Caliente Casino and I-10 Toyota of The Desert.

Jazz Concert at Rancho Mirage Library
Aubrey Tadman and Friends held a jazz concert Rancho Mirage public library Tuesday, January 27 at 7 pm. The entertaining music featured the art of jazz improvisation by instruments and singing.
Jay Lewis plays drums for the jazz band.
The jazz concert drew a large crowd.

Orion awards
The Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce held the 2004 Orion awards at the Doral/Desert Princess Resort Friday, January 30 at 6 pm. The Orion Awards recognizes outstanding work from business and community members.
Sandra Kelemen, of Palm Desert, Dean Smith, of Bermuda Dunes, Kimberly Wagner, of Bermuda Dunes, and Alibaba Farzaneh, of Palm Desert have a fun time at the event. Red Hat Society Lunch
The Dusty Desert Roses chapter of The Red Hat Society held their monthly luncheon at The Miracle Springs Hotel in Desert Hot Springs Tuesday January 27 at 12 pm. The group, who range in age from 58 to over 80, wear red hats and purple dresses for their events.

Thursday Night Live! at The McCallum
Thursday Night Live! at The McCallum, an Evening of Celebration and Laughter, featuring The Second City National Touring Company, performed at the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert on Thursday, January 29 at 7:30 pm. Proceeds benefit the Gilda’s Club Desert Cities.

Agua Caliente Living Traditions Program
The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum held Agua Caliente Living Traditions Program with Instructor Amil Pedro of Arizona, who taught the class to make a AtLatl throwing spear that was used to hunt mammoth. The class was held in a two-day session Saturday, January 25 and Sunday 26, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Walk-a-Thon
Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Indio held a walk-a-thon Friday, January 30, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am for students, parents, and staff to raise money for the school. The students get pledges and walk ten miles to support their school.
