Angel View luncheon
Entertainer Bill Marx was honored as Angel of the Year at the Angel View Crippled Children's Foundation 49th Annual Luncheon at the Doral Palm Springs Resort in Cathedral City February 14. A reception, silent auction and collectibles sale preceded the luncheon.

Blues lesson
Kal David and the Real Deal featuring Lauri Bono performed for students at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Indio February 13. The band played and gave a short history of blues music at several schools in celebration of Black History Month.
Maison Felice
Interior designer and author Betty Lou Phillips gave a lecture on blending French and Italian styles in the home at Maison Felice antique gallery in Palm Desert February 11. A Champagne Valentine Tea catered by Le St. Germain followed the lecture.
Ophelia Project
Indio Middle School students and their mentors from the Ophelia Project delivered cookies and cards to residents of the Indio Nursing and Rehabilitation Center February 13. The Ophelia Project is a group mentoring program for adolescent young women offered by the John F. Kennedy Memorial Foundation.
Red Hat Desert Dames
Ladies from the Red Hat Desert Dames chapter of the Red Hat Society celebrated the group's one-year birthday at P.F. Chang's restaurant in Rancho Mirage February 12. Members of the society meet dressed in attire inspired by the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph.
Sierra Club meeting
Joe Zarki, chief naturalist for Joshua Tree National Park, talked about problems facing the park at a Sierra Club Tahquitz Group meeting at Cathedral City Senior Center February 12. The group meets the second Wednesday of each month.
