Desert Youth Ballet
The Desert Youth Ballet presented “Nutcracker Suite & Other Suites” on Dec. 16 at the Performing Arts Center Outside Stage in Rancho Mirage. The Desert Youth Ballet was founded by Artistic Director Valerie Mahabir in 1990 to offer performance opportunities for those willing to work hard and to make their dreams come true through music and dance.

The Spirit of Christmas
The Desert Chapel Choir presented a musical, “The Spirit of Christmas,” capturing the sights and sounds of the season on Dec. 19. The musical was held at Desert Chapel Church in Palm Springs .

Cookie Decorating at Louise's Pantry
Louise's Pantry in Palm Desert hosted a Cookie Decorating event for the Indio/La Quinta MOMS Club on Dec. 14. The restaurant donated all of the cookie supplies used by the children.

FIND Food Bank
A three-day food drive at all area Albertsons stores was held Dec. 16-18 to benefit FIND Food Bank. The food was distributed to approximately 56 charities and churches across the valley to feed the hungry during the holiday season. Albertsons has been helping FIND feed the valley's hungry for the past seven years.

Christmas Carols at Desert Regional Medical Center
Students from Katherine Finchy Elementary School treated patients, visitors and employees at Desert Regional Medical Center to Christmas caroling on Dec. 15. The students also decorated a Christmas tree in the family waiting room.

Christmas for the Kids
Over 125 children from the Boys and Girls Club of Coachella Valley attended “Christmas for the Kids” at Lakes Country Club on Dec. 14. One block of festively decorated homes took part in the evening event which included food and beverages and presents for all children. Santa Claus was on hand to distribute gifts.

Desert Horizons Luncheon
The Desert Horizons Women's Club, an organization formed to help integrate women into the Desert Horizons community through social, charitable and educational forums, held a special luncheon meeting on Dec. 14. Guests of honor were wives of servicemen from the 29 Palms Marine Corps base. The guests were given gifts and global calling cards. Singer Allison Jones entertained the group.

Caroling on El Paseo
El Paseo shoppers were treated to holiday caroling from Nov. 27 through Christmas Eve. Each evening, a local chorale group hosted by a store on El Paseo performed. On Dec. 17, Palm Desert High School Chamber Singers entertained shoppers. The select group of 30 auditioned singers performs college-level music in five languages

People Helping People U.S.A. Shopping Event
People Helping People U.S.A. provides financial and emotional support to people in need. Assisting mainly on a one-time basis, the group focuses on helping children and seniors. In this special holiday shopping event, People Helping People took 34 children from Agua Caliente and Cathedral City elementary schools to Mervyn's Department Store, completely outfitting each child with new clothes.
