Fishing Derby at BIGHORN
BIGHORN Golf Club held its fourth annual Snow Day & Fishing Derby on Dec. 27 as a holiday treat for the children and grandchildren of BIGHORN members. The afternoon Fishing Derby tested their angling skills at a course lake stocked with prize-winning trout. A barbecue and prizes awarded for the biggest catch rounded out the day's activities.

Community Centers Host Winter Camps
The La Quinta, Indio and Palm Desert Community Centers hosted winter camps in December for children in grades K-8. Children enjoyed arts and crafts, games, music and sports; pictured are children in La Quinta's Winter Camp.

The Ice Garden ice-skating rink in Cathedral City offers public skating sessions, adult and youth hockey leagues and clinics, as well as figure skating classes and clinics.

Kwanzaa Holiday Celebrations
Kwanzaa festivities filled the Coachella Valley Dec. 26-Jan. 1. The after-Christmas holiday focusing on African-American cultural values was celebrated throughout the valley with songs, storytelling, dance, and candle-lighting ceremonies led by Sharon McKee, Kwanzaa festivities coordinator.

Wildlights at The Living Desert
The Berger Foundation's Wildlights, presented by the City of Indian Wells , was enjoyed at The Living Desert throughout the holiday season. Events included more than 260,000 twinkling lights, larger-than-life illuminated displays with state-of-the-art animation, LGB trains, Santa's Corner, holiday entertainment and Wildlife Wonders animal shows.
