Basketball school
Athletes entering second through ninth grades worked on their basketball skills at the 14th Annual Desert Valley Basketball School held in the College of the Desert gym June 16-19 and June 23-26.









La Quinta Chamber Awards
The La Quinta Chamber of Commerce installed a new board of directors and honored Waste Management of the Desert, Lake La Quinta Inn and La Quinta High School at its Annual Installation and Awards Evening at Fantasy Springs Casino June 26






Health Center Dedication
The Desert AIDS Project in Palm Springs hosted a dedication ceremony for the Wells Fargo HIV Health Center June 27. The Wells Fargo Foundation received the naming opportunity for its $250,000 donation to the DAP building fund campaign.








Junior golf
The American Junior Golf Association celebrated 25 years of competitive junior golf during the Lennar Junior at Mission Hills held on the Palmer Course of Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage June 23-26. This year's tournament featured 84 juniors from more than 10 states and Canada.







Imagination Station
Children 8 to 11 years of age learned about dance, music, theater and visual arts at the McCallum Theatre Institute’s summer camp for children, Imagination Station, June 16-20 and June 23-27.






Special visit
Paulette Mullinax and kitten Tumbleweed from Animal Samaritans SPCA visited the Rancho Mirage Library June 26. Children got to pet the kitten and make butterflies from coffee filters and clothespins following a story time all about kittens.








Michaels Free Family Event
Families constructed make-it-and-take-it art projects at the Michaels Free Family Event held at the store in Palm Desert June 28. Several businesses were also on hand to promote their activities.






Family Fun Day
The Spanish Assembly of God in Cathedral City hosted a Family Fun Day featuring food and games June 28.





Tiny Tot Luau
Children 3 to 7 years of age learned the hula and played Hawaiian themed games during the Tiny Tot Luau at the La Quinta Senior Center June 27.
