Old Town La Quinta Street Affaire
The La Quinta Street Affaire held Independence Day festivities Saturday, July 3, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Street Affaire is held every two weeks in Old Town La Quinta.
Babysitter Academy Class
Babysitter Academy is a two-day class held at the Indio Library. The class is instructed by Bonnie Smith, founder of Lifeline Health Education and a certified American Red Cross instructor. The class uses American Red Cross curriculum with instruction on first aid and CPR to prepare babysitters for emergency situations.
Desert Sharks Water Polo
The Desert Sharks Water Polo Club coached by Avi Schneller meets daily at the Palm Springs Swim Center with players of all levels of experience. Schneller gives instruction on ball handling, treading water and swimming. The club prepares athletes for high school water polo and to participate in tournaments.
Performing Arts Demonstration
Valerie Mahabir's Academy of Ballet and Performing Arts students performed a demonstration of dances they learned while attending Mahabir's Academy of Ballet and Performing Arts Camp, a four-week program focusing on stretching exercises, repertoire, jazz and international dances.
Softball
Palm Desert Lady Titans, a 10 and under softball team, meets four nights a week at the Palm Desert High School softball field for practice, playing on the weekends. Over the 4th of July weekend the team participated in a tournament in Redlands taking 4th place in their division.
Lennar Junior Golf at Mission Hills
The American Junior Golf Association and Lennar Communities partnered to hold the 23rd Annual Lennar Junior Golf Tournament at Mission Hills Country Club Palmer Course June 28 to July 1, with 84 boy and girl golfers ages 12 to 18. The tournament paired one junior golfer with four amateur sponsors in a round of golf. Tournament alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Grace Park.
MOMS Club
Moms Offering Moms Support (MOMS) of Cathedral City and Palm Springs held its end-of-the-year dinner themed "New Year's Eve" at the Riviera Resort in Palm Springs. MOMS Club International is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 for stay-at-home moms offering support through community service and member activities.
Magic Show
The Palm Desert Public Library held "The Great Sardini Magic Show" June 30. The show featured comical magician Ric Morton, who picked children from the audience to assist in magic tricks.
Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG)
CVAG is a regional governmental association that includes representatives from the desert cities, Riverside County and local Indian tribes. CVAG held its General Assembly Monday, June 28, at the Doral Desert Princess in Cathedral City.
