Auditions
The Various Stages Entertainment Group held open auditions for four plays , Cahoots, Bat Boy, The Queen of Bingo and It Had To Be You at the Joslyn Senior Center in Palm Desert. Approximately 60 actors from the ages of 16 to 75 read and sang for parts in the upcoming plays that open in October running through April.








Palm Springs Desert Museum Summer Camp Open House
Palm Springs Desert Museum summer camp for children held open house for parents for campers. With three lessons a day throughout the museum, the campers work various art projects. The Camp is designed to mix art, natural science, and performing arts together.





Desert Springs Church in Palm Desert concluded their week- long vacation bible school on Friday evening, with a flourish. S.C.U.B.A., or Super Cool Undersea Bible Adventure, was the class theme for participants ages 5 - 11. Kids enjoyed skits, crafts, singing and games while learning about their Christian faith.










Tae Kwon Do
Chief Instructor William Stubblefield, who has been a martial arts teacher for 16 years, leads a Tae Kwon Do class at the La Quinta High School dance room Tuesday evening. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday night from 5:30-7:00 pm, and are open to all ages and experience levels. Classes cost $45.00 per session; sessions are approximately one month long, and an additional $30.00 for uniform.










Catch a Frog Tournament
The Cathedral City Library hosted Catch a frog tournament where children tossed stuffed animal frogs, Learned about the Rainforest and made Rainforest necklaces. The event was free for all ages and open to all children in the valley. The Cathedral City Library has events weekly events for children during the summer.







Action Gymnastics Summer Camp
Action Gymnastics in Palm Desert held summer camp for children ages 5-15, for level 1-8 gymnast. Activities includes gymnastics swimming, rock climbing. Gym games, arts and crafts.







The Joslyn Senior Center hosted Vocalist Robert Drake on July 17th for their Sizzling Summer Series Cabaret. Why stay hot at home when you could be enjoying hot entertainment on Thursdays at 2:00 pm at the Joslyn Senior Center in Palm Desert. The Cabaret runs thru August 28th with various guest performers.










Play
The Palm Canyon Theatre summer arts and drama program 6th annual summer camp for ages 8 to 18 performed a musical version of Shakespeare’s play The Tempest on July 18 and 19th. Approximately 60 students took part in the camp learning how to make costumes, building props, running the sound and lights for the production of The Tempest.








The Miramonte Resort and Spa in Indian Wells hosted Christmas in July on Wednesday July 16th. The reception featured caroling and music with Christmas displays and a holiday feast. Guest’s were treated by the resort to this pre-holiday winter gala and feast.
