Cinderella
The Dance Program held dress rehearsal for its presentation of "Cinderella" performed at the Palm Springs High School June 19 and 20. Proceeds go to the Dance Program students to attend summer dance camps with guest teachers.










Vacation Bible School
Southwest Community Church in Indian Wells held its Vacation Bible School, themed "Lord of All Things," focusing on the story of Daniel, with fun activities and performances. During camp, children raised $9,000 for the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.









YMCA Bike Giveaway
Family YMCA of the Desert gave away new bicycles Saturday, June 19, to 50 young people being recognized for exemplary character. The Coeta and Donald Barker Foundation donated the cost of the bicycles, Desert Bicycle assembled the bikes and the Walter Clark Legal Group donated safety helmets.








Camp Little Bighorn
The Lodge at Rancho Mirage held Camp Little Bighorn featuring exciting activities including basketball, tennis and arts and crafts. Camp Little Bighorn is open to the children who are guests at the hotel and children who live in the Coachella Valley.










Walter Kemph 90th Birthday
Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage honored volunteer Walter Kemph on his 90th birthday. Kemph has been volunteering at the hospital for 17 years, making weekly visits to the hospital.







Leadership Coachella Valley Graduation
Leadership Coachella Valley, a program designed to give knowledge and perspective to potential future leaders of our communities through challenges, is sponsored by six Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce and local businesses. The program held its graduation ceremony June 24 at Desert Falls Country Club in Palm Desert.







Race to the Son
Central Baptist Church in Indio held vacation bible school themed "Race to the Son" where children played games, makes crafts while learning about the Bible. The camp for children ages 3 through sixth grade was held June 21 to 25.









BMW Ultimate Drive
The eighth annual BMW Ultimate Drive to fund raise for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation held a kick-off event at BMW of Palm Springs Wednesday, June 23. Cathedral City Resident Cy Breen was honored as a local hero for his fund raising to fight breast cancer. Breen has been personally affected by breast cancer: his wife and stepdaughter were both diagnosed with the disease. On Breen's 92nd birthday in February, Breen played 92 holes of golf, collecting per-hole donations from friends and family raising $13,000 that was matched by the Suzanne Jackson Breast Cancer Fund and donated to The Comprehensive Cancer Center, an outpatient facility of Desert Regional Medical Center.








United Way of the Desert
The United Way of the Desert held its annual Agency Funding Breakfast Wednesday, June 23, at J.W. Marriott's Desert Springs Resort and Spa in Palm Desert. The event was held to honor its 26 member agencies that provide health and human care programs, and services to the greater Palm Springs-area desert communities.
