Sundown at the Oasis
Orphan Pet Oasis in North Palm Springs held Sundown at the Oasis, a Western-themed barbeque, Sunday, June 13, with live music, raffles, food and drinks,to benefit the Orphan Pet Oasis.










B.A.D. Chicken Dinner
Desert Riders Association presented the B.A.D. (Bikers Against Diabetes) Chicken Dinner, Wednesday, June 9, at The Elks Lodge in Cathedral City to benefit the American Diabetes Association.








Student Dance Recital
Lindsay Kaufman's ballet and tap dance classes performed its annual student dance recital Saturday, June 12, at the Palm Canyon Theater in Palm Springs.














Indio Boxing Club grand opening
The Boys and Girls Club of the Coachella Valley unveiled its new boxing and athletic center at the Indio Boys and Girls Club, Saturday, June 5. The Center was built entirely by 30 students in the Building Horizons program, a school career elective class in collaboration with Riverside County Office of Education Regional Occupation Program. Along with the grand opening, Building Horizons held its graduation ceremony for their friends and families.









John Adams performance
La Quinta's John Adams Elementary School's third grade class held its end-of-the-year music performance, Tuesday, June 8, with the skills they learned throughout the year taught by music instructor Robert O'Connor who teaches music at elementary schools throughout the valley.











Lunch Bunch quilting group
The Lunch Bunch quilting group, who meets weekly at the Joslyn Senior Center in Palm Desert, donated 55 quilts to Rebuilding Mountain Hearts and Lives, a citizen-led committee to help coordinate long-term disaster relief and rebuilding efforts for the San Bernardino Mountains that were impacted by the 2003 fires.









Flag Day
The Elks Lodge #1905 in held its Flag Day ceremony Saturday, June 12, with Scouts who presented the colors.












Agua Caliente Cultural Museum
Six teachers from Palm Desert's sister city, Gisborne, New Zealand, and one from sister city Ixtapa, Mexico, are in the valley participating in the McCallum Theatre's Aesthetic Education Program. While in town, the visitors toured the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum and watched a Bird Song presentation, Saturday, June 12.








Mission Lakes Ladies Club
The Mission Lakes Ladies Club held its monthly luncheon at Miracle Springs Hotel in Desert Hot Springs, Wednesday, June 9, awarding three scholarships to three Desert Hot Springs High School seniors.
