The Black Historical Cultural Society of the Coachella Valley held a Black History Month Finale at Cathedral City Library February 26.












Day of Games
The Third Annual Day of Games benefiting the Foundation for the Retarded of the Desert featured lunch, raffles, a silent auction, a high roller drawing and games at The Lakes Country Club in Palm Desert February 25.












Guide Dogs graduation
Five blind and visually impaired students graduated from Guide Dogs of the Desert International's training program March 1. The students spent one month at the facility training with their dogs provided by the nonprofit corporation located in Painted Hills, just northwest of Palm Springs.

Fashion designer Jamie Sadock made a special appearance during a trunk show of her Resort Wear Collection Fall 2003 line at Pete Carlson's Golf and Tennis in Palm Desert February 28.











Jazz on the Green
Heritage Palms in Indio hosted the Jazz on the Green Festival featuring some of the West Coast's top jazz musicians March 1.

The Neuschel Consort of Musicke played music from the Renaissance at the Rancho Mirage Library February 25.










Odyssey of the Mind
Teams of middle school students performed eight-minute problem solving skits at Odyssey of the Mind Inland Empire Regional Tournament at Palm Springs High School March 1.

Local officials and community members read to students at James Madison Elementary School in Indio during Read Across America day, a program of the National Education Association, February 28.













Spring Gala
The Joslyn Senior Center in Palm Desert held the 8th Annual Spring Gala to benefit the center's Meals on Wheels program at Desert Island Country Club in Rancho Mirage March 1. Bill and Barbara Marx were honored with the Joslyn Crystal Award.
