A Night at The River
The River in Rancho Mirage held "A Night at The River" to benefit the Palm Springs High School Academic Boosters, March 3, from 5 to 8 p.m., with stores donating a portion of proceeds and Palm Springs High School students performing at the amphitheater.

Indio Desert Circuit
The Desert Circuit and the La Quinta Rotary hosted Senior Day Sunday at the Desert Horse Park. The Indio Desert Circuit brings riders and horses from all across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe. More than 2,000 horses annually compete for more than $1 million in prize money.

Jazz jam session
Local seniors meet weekly on Wednesdays at 8 a.m. at the Mizell Senior Center to play jazz.
Russ Gremill sings "Lady Be Good." Luke Verret plays the trombone at the jam session. 90-year-old Sidd Gell plays the tenor saxophone. Jack Davis plays the clarinet.
The audience enjoys jazz.
John L. Oehrle plays the trumpet.
91-year-old Dave "Tico" Robbins plays the drums.
Lee Foster plays the bass guitar for the jazz jam session.
Jean Fisher plays jazz on the piano.



Ms. Senior America California Pageant
The Ms. Senior America California preliminary pageant was held at Sun City Palm Desert’s Sierra Ballroom Saturday, March 6, at 2 p.m. The winner of the pageant and four runner-ups will go on to compete at the state level.

The Stroke Recovery Center held a Mardi Gras celebration with music entertainment, Mardi Gras decorations and Mardi Gras-style lunch.

Target grand opening
The Target on Highway 111 in La Quinta held its grand opening all day Sunday, March 7. The Riverside County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department spent the day greeting customers outside the store.

YMCA kick-off dinner
The YMCA of the Desert held their annual Kick-off dinner at the Palm Desert YMCA Thursday, Feb. 26, to celebrate the upcoming fund-raising efforts.
