Camp Ronald McDonald
Members of the Undercover Quilters, a group that meets at the Indio and La Quinta senior centers, donated quilts to families at Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times in Mountain Center May 3. The camp offers year-round recreational programs for children with cancer and their families.











Golfing for kids
Over 140 golfers raised money for the Children's Miracle Network, Loma Linda University Children's Hospital and various local charities at the 2nd Annual Marriott Desert Charities Invitational at The Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Palm Desert May 9.











Cinco de Mayo
Las Casuelas Nuevas restaurant in Rancho Mirage served up entertainment and prizes along with dinner for a Cinco de Mayo celebration.










Desert Museum tour
Fifth-graders from Caesar Chavez School in Coachella toured the Palm Springs Desert Museum May 6. The La Quinta Arts Foundation provides transportation to the museum, which offers free admission to the students in the foundation's art-awareness program, "Making Friends with Great Works of Art."










"Macbeth"
The Earhart Players of Amelia Earhart Elementary School of International Studies in La Quinta presented "Macbeth" May 7.











Mexican American Chamber Mixer
The Coachella Valley Mexican American Chamber of Commerce held the 10th Annual Golf Tournament and Mixer to fund scholarships for local college-bound high school seniors at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert May 9.










Scholarship dinner
Over 100 high school seniors received $1000 scholarships from The Valley's Promise, Boys & Girls Club of Coachella Valley and Building Horizons at the Distinguished Service and Scholars Awards sponsored by Allstate Insurance of California at the Indian Wells Country Club May 8.










Special Olympics golf
Golfers from Southern California Special Olympics programs competed at an area qualifying meet at Ivey Ranch Country Club in Thousand Palms May 10. Level 2 athletes played 9 holes alternating shots with a partner, and level 4 athletes completed 9 holes on their own ball.











Volunteer appreciation
Staff members of the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice honored their volunteers at a luncheon at Hacienda de Monterey in Palm Desert May 5.
