The Cavanaugh Adobe
The Cavanaugh Adobe is one of the oldest buildings in the Coachella Valley that still retains the look of the lifestyle and culture of residents living nearly three quarters of a century ago. Just south of Highway 111 on Cook Street , this landmark structure graces the landscape. Known by the locals as “The Cavanaugh Adobe,” it was built by the Cavanaugh brothers in the early 1920s. Adobe mud came from the La Quinta wash and was formed into adobe bricks on site. Hand-hewn natural timbers support the living room ceiling. The adobe house's present owners, Don and Marge Hutton, purchased the residence in 1988.
