Patient Appreciation Day
Phenomenal Health Center held a Customer Appreciation Day Nov. 6 for their patients donating canned goods for FIND, (Food In Need of Distribution); and/or blood donations for the Community Blood Bank. Current patients were given a free chiropractic adjustment, and new clients were given free x-rays and an initial evaluation.

Rancho Mirage Art Affaire
The Rancho Mirage Art Affaire was held at beautiful Whitewater Park on Nov. 13 and 14. The Art Affaire benefits local art programs and selected community organizations. This year's even benefits the Family YMCA of the Desert's Arts & Humanities Program. The Art Affaire is the city's largest community event and features a showcase of high quality art from 100 participating artists and musical entertainment performed by jazz favorites.

House of Hope
Soroptomists International of the Desert met Nov. 6 at their Desert Hot Springs Recovery House for a refurbishing project. Residents and club members worked side by side throughout the day, bringing a fresh, new look to the House of Hope, inside and out.

Elks Lodge
Members, family and friends of the Indio Elks Lodge #1643 worked together to gather much-needed supplies for local Marines stationed in Iraq . Books, games, toiletries and snacks were packed up together with gratitude and well wishes for the Marines safe return.

Prep Football- Cathedral City at Palm Springs
The Palm Springs High School Varsity Football team finished a 5-0 league season with a 41-6 victory over Cathedral City . The rival teams played Nov. 12 at Palm Springs High School.

On Wednesday, Nov. 10 at Hacienda de Monterey in Palm Desert , the Star Spangled Singers, a group of students from Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage, dressed in their patriotic garb and sang for tenants, guests, employees and veterans.

Honoring America's Military Veterans
On Nov. 10 at Andrew Jackson School in Indio , students and teachers honored America 's military veterans and the men and women who protect us. Students, grades 2 nd through 5 th , presented patriotic music and selected speakers shared ideas and historic quotations from our country's past.

Desert Regional Medical Center
Volunteers at the Desert Regional Medical Center were busy verifying eligible voters among the patients in order to register them for Hospital Absentee Voter ballots on Election Day. “Every Vote Counts” takes on a special meaning for those who are hospitalized and unable to get to a polling location

Groundwater Guardian Team
On Wednesday, Oct. 27, the Groundwater Guardian Team celebrated its 10 th anniversary as a “Designated” Groundwater Guardian Community at the Miracle Springs Resort and Spa in Desert Hot Springs. The celebration was part of the monthly Desert Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce Mayor's Breakfast. The Groundwater Guardian Team recognized the Mission Springs Water District Board of Directors, many of the Team's past and present members and partners in their Result Oriented Activities over the last 10 years.

The celebration also included the presentation of the “Newspapers in Education” special supplement that was developed in collaboration with The Desert Sun, DHS High School Guardian Campus Team and the Desert Hot Springs Groundwater Guardian Team.
