Concerts in the Square

Cathedral City Square hosted its first open air concert Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. The concerts, which will continue on the first Friday of each month, will benefit the local firefighters’ fund as well as an orphanage in Tequila Jalisco, Mexico.

There was a full dance floor Sunday afternoon at the Date Palm Country Club in Cathedral City moving to the sounds of “Sophisticated Swing,” a three-piece group with a big band sound. Singles and couples mixed and mingled in between a variety of dances including waltzes, cha chas and even a line dance or two.

Fire Mini-Muster

Carter James Elementary School in Palm Desert hosted a Mini-Muster with firefighters from California Department of Forestry/Riverside County Fire Department. The firefighters ran various fire-safety stations for the students to participate in and learn. Hoses were squirted, relays were run and students were cooled off throughout the afternoon.

Desert Pride Center fundraiser at Heaven
The Desert Pride Center held a fundraiser at the Heaven night club attended by approximately 100 people, with a raffle and prizes that will benefit new offices for the center. The Delicious Divas were there and Monica Monet performed.

“A Gift of Life” Fundraiser

Jazzercise Class at Brighton Gardens

Brighton Gardens in Rancho Mirage holds weekly Jazzercise classes for the residents of Brighton Gardens. Classes are taught by Karen Sorenson who has been a Jazzercise Instructor in the Coachella Valley for more than 22 years.

Quilts for World Relief

The Quilters of Hope had their finished quilts on display at the Hope Lutheran Church in Palm Desert this past weekend. The quilts will be sent all over the world; “wherever there’s a need.” The ladies also constructed both health and school kits with basic necessities to donate as part of the Lutheran World Relief project.

The Palm Springs Public Library hosts the National NASA at the Palm Springs Library Exhibit from Oct 1 - 31. NASA at your library is a national traveling exhibit offering state-of-the-art computers, plasma screen videodomes, lasers and lenticular lens displays.
