Civil Air Patrol
Senior and cadet members of Palm Springs Squadron 11 of the Civil Air Patrol conduct a formal Commanders Call ceremony on the first Wednesday of each month. The Civil Air Patrol leads search and rescue missions, provides disaster relief and communications and flies counter-drug and homeland security missions. Cadets learn about aviation, attend encampments and study teamwork and leadership. |

Relay For Life Poker Run
The American Cancer Society was the beneficiary of a “Relay for Life” Poker Run Oct. 9 presented by the Desert Riders Association and hosted by Engine Joe's Cycle Service in Cathedral City . The event for bikes and cars included a bike wash, live entertainment, vendors and a barbecue by the Cathedral City Fire Department. |

The Palm Springs Boys and Girls Club participated Oct. 6 in national Smile for Life Day. Club members learned about good oral health, played dental-related games and received toothbrushes and toothpaste. Dr. Joseph Godinez of Palm Springs gave free dental exams. |
