The feet of the modern day Masai warrior are encased in rubber made from an old tire.  Erasto Mollel said that these shoes are five years old, and he may have to replace them in another five years.

Desert Bar Association Installation Dinner

Guests gathered Saturday evening at the Palm Springs Desert Museum for “An Evening in Venice” to honor Desert Bar Association President John E. FitzGerald III. The reception featured a stroll through the museum on an “Art Hunt” while being serenaded with Italian songs. An authentic Italian feast of chicken Florentine, pasta and tiramisu was served. Installation of officers followed the meal.

The Jewish Community Center of the Desert welcomed award-winning actor Justin Blake as Harry Truman in a one-man play Sunday afternoon in Bermuda Dunes. Following the play, the actor answered audience questions based on his research on the former president. The play is one of many events open to the public.

Mizell Senior Center Presents An Evening at M*A*S*H

The “M*A*S*H” set was up in the Palm Springs Mall Friday evening, Oct. 10; complete with tents, camouflage netting, a jeep and the famous landmark sign post. Guests wore dog tags and were treated to delicacies from several local restaurants, served by friendly volunteer “recruits.” There also was a booth offering flu shots administered by a registered nurse.

Pacifica Seafood Restaurant and Fisher Vineyards presented a five-course meal for more than 60 guests on Tuesday evening, Oct. 7. The menu began with an eclectic assortment of hors d’oeuvres, followed by a fish, fowl, meat and dessert course. Each was accompanied by a choice Fisher wine selected to accent the individual entrée.
