Robin Hood Archery
Robin Hood Archery on Commerce Street in Indio is a family run business. A 3D tournament is held every Friday night and is open to archers of all ages. Classes are held Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with three National Champion coaches who teach use of equipment and safety. Tuesday thru Friday is open range shooting where the whole family can enjoy the sport which accommodates most disabilities.

Bird Watching
A bird watching 101 tour was given at Mount San Jacinto State Park by bird guide Paul Blanchard. A slide show identifying native birds was given with a lecture and handout on how to recognize individual species. The participants were taken on a nature hike and shown the best way to spot a bird.

Palm Springs Lanes
Palm Springs Lanes in Cathedral City offers open laser bowling every Saturday from noon to 2 a.m. Birthday parties, corporate affairs and special events are all welcome. A No Tap Tournament is held the first Sunday of each month and the snack bar and lounge is open daily. Leagues are currently forming and provide entertainment for young and old.

John Madden Football Tournament
Big League Dreams Sports Park in Cathedral City held its first annual PlayStation II “Madden Football Tournament”, Sunday afternoon, Sept. 7. The two-game elimination tournament was held in the Stadium Club overlooking the grounds.

Hallmark Adult Day Care in Palm Springs is a program designed to aid families and individuals to maintain health and socialization. Care is provided Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

My Gym
My Gym in Palm Desert offers a variety of classes for children and adults. Classes at My Gym include Fencing, Urban Yoga and Tae Kwon Do.

Salsa Dance Lessons
The Indio Community Center is full of people Thursday evenings, but none seem to be having quite as much fun as the students in Anna Dominguez’s Salsa class. The beat is hot and the rhythm is enticing, and students are encouraged to add a little attitude as they learn each new move.

YMCA Event
The La Quinta YMCA hosted a free “Return to School Party” Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6. There were arts and crafts, games, music, a bounce house and food. The day was hot, but the kids didn’t seem to mind.
