About a dozen women learned the intricate art of pine needle basket weaving in a class taught by Alice Kotzen at The Living Desert University in Palm Desert Saturday morning. Most agreed that it took a lot of concentration, but they all had fun.

The Indian Wells Tennis Gardens was host to the Fifth Annual 5K Run/Walk benefiting the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert early Sunday morning, Sept. 21. The event also featured a “Kids Dash” and “Toddler Trot” following the feature race.

Leadership Coachella Valley, Class of 2003 – 04 had their first meeting at Uprising Outdoor Adventures. The future leaders, who meet once a month for 10 months, address a variety of Valleywide issues. Participants are from different trades and occupations.
